Immerse in the rhythmic splendour of ~uvar's Tempest sea , where every element serves to mesmerise, be it the warmly glimering reflections, that enigmatic glow from deep beneath the waves, the uncanny detailing of the ship itself, complete with a splash of crowning red, or those specked whites of gulls offering both senses of scale and movement... it is a piece that is entirely brimming with transporting rapture. And if you think the artist's relationship with the subject matter ends here, you are sorely mistaken; their entire gallery is teeming with dedications to the sea. Please enjoy. Amazing work! Probably superlate to comment on this one, but it really caught my eye.
I was looking through oil-paintings, as I recently started learning to use them (having never painted before)

I do wonder though, how do you do these kinds of paintings? Do you do one layer, let it dry for very long, paint one layer on top of that etc. Or do you paint on top of layers when they're still wet?

Thanks a lot, and great work!

very beautiful, although, if i may be so bold as to offer some constructive criticism, this feels more like the calm after the storm. the lighting and swells look like something after a storm. still one of my favorites, though

Wow! This is fantastic! Old style sailing ships don't seem to be a popular subject for art these days. It's wonderful to see a painting that is so beautifully done.

Interesting use of negative space...I know most teachers would say it's a no-no---but HELL it works great in this piece! I also think it's so neat that main ship isn't actually alone, and seems to be dropping...fishing bouys?

The water is AMAZING. You CAPTURED it! It really looks like ocean water with hints of sunlight passing through- not an easy thing to paint convincingly. I also love the luminescence of the sky and clouds...echoed in the water of course. This actually looks post-storm to me...the sun just conquered the clouds, and is peeking out in all it's glory on a beautiful morning.

well deserved DD!!!
